Calangute: 2 cottages at Tivai Vaddo in Calangute were completely gutted in a fire that broke out early morning, while six nearby cottages were successfully saved from the flames. Firefighters from the Pilerne and Mapusa Fire Station rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control. Tourists from Mysore who were staying in the affected cottages were alerted in time and escaped safely. No injuries or casualties were reported.
The fire is suspected to have been deliberately set, as petrol was reportedly found poured on the door, indicating possible foul play. Further investigation is underway.
