“Goa Police Slammed for Brutal Treatment of MLA Viresh Borkar: Opposition Demands Suspension”
PANAJI: While condemning the manhandling of Goa Revolutionary Party MLA, Mr Viresh Borkar, the gathering at Azad Maidan demanded suspension of the police officers immediately involved in the incident at the Town & Country Planning office yesterday..
Today an elected representative was mercilessly dragged from the TCP office steps for allegedly staging a protest in the office. They demanded the suspension of the police inspector along with others. Leaders from most of the political parties had gathered at the Azad maidan by sinking the political differences for one cause to save Goa, Goan culture, Goan land, fields, hills, integrity and communal harmony.
They said the attack on Mr Borkar was a direct attack on Democracy adding this government has become the land mafia instead of preserving the land for posterity and is engaged in selling the land to others.
What happened to Mr Viresh should not happen to others as he was not fighting for the cause of the Goa and Goans, The Health minister, Mr Vishwajeet Rane after laying foundation ceremony of a bridge at Sanvordem -Sattari, stated that “I need just one night , I can block Panaji’
While elaborating further he stated that the chief minister only needs to give me the order I need just one night, I can bring 40,000 people from Sattari and completely block Panaji,”
Mr in a controversial statement he strongly defended the casinos in the River Mandovi and also criticised the campaign led by the former judge of Allahabad High Court Justice Ferdino Rebello The prominent social activists present on the occasion were Pratima Coutinho, Father Victor and other Father, Claude Alvares, Guru Shirodkar, MLA from Aldona, Mr Ferreira, Norma Alvares, RTI activist, Mr Ranjan Ghate, people who have forgotten that they were chosen not to rule but to serve and felt that Goans will rise now.
They also said that “we need to stop the tag that Goa is for sale.”“
Power has gone into the heads of the ruling MLAs and felt that nobody can replace them from power and appealed to the people to be united to protect and preserve Goa and its land from selling to outsiders.
