AGDJA Condemns Alleged Threat to Journalist at Dharbandora Shiv Mahotsav
Dharbandora: The All Goa Digital Journalists Association (AGDJA) has strongly condemned an alleged threat issued to a journalist by a Sanvordem Zilla Panchayat (ZP) member during a public function organised by the Department of Information & Publicity.
According to the association, threatening a journalist from a government stage amounts to a direct attack on democracy. AGDJA termed the incident “cowardly and unprecedented,” especially as it occurred at an event conducted by the very department responsible for journalists’ welfare.The incident reportedly took place during the two-day Shiv Mahotsav 2026 held at Satpal Ground, Sacorda, Dharbandora.
AGDJA has demanded an immediate apology from the ZP member Gaonkar and sought intervention from Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, who also holds the Information & Publicity portfolio. The association warned that legal action would follow if corrective steps are not taken and asserted that attempts to intimidate media in Goa will not be tolerated.
