Calangute Association Stuns Goa Police, Storms into Finals
Calangute: Calangute Association pulled off a thrilling 2-1 win over hosts Goa Police SC at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Wednesday, securing their spot in the finals of the 20th Goa Police Football Cup. Shaviz Pathan’s late strike sealed the victory for Calangute, who will now face the winner of the other semifinal match.
Arun Naik gave Calangute Association the perfect start, scoring in the 39th minute. Goa Police fought back strongly after halftime and were rewarded with a penalty in the 79th minute, which Kunal Salgaonkar converted to level the scores. However, Shaviz Pathan’s stoppage-time goal ensured Calangute’s place in the finals.
This victory marks a significant milestone for Calangute Association, who are looking to add to their trophy cabinet. The team’s strategy and teamwork were on full display as they outsmarted the hosts to seal their spot in the finals
