OBC Leaders Thank CM Sawant for Roster Status in PG Medical Seats
Panaji: In a significant development, WRD Minister Shri Subhash Shirodkar, accompanied by OBC leaders including Shri Madhu Naik, met Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to express gratitude for considering roster status in filling PG medical seats at Goa Medical College (GMC). This move is expected to benefit students from Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) .
The reservation policy, which includes 2% for SC, 12% for ST, and 27% for OBC, was previously challenged in the High Court. However, the state government has constituted a committee to recommend whether reservation is required for PG medical courses .
Chief Minister Sawant has assured notification of rules on the PG roster system for GMC seats, aiming to promote equitable representation in postgraduate medical education ³.
