Lift Irrigation Scheme Inaugurated in Bicholim to Boost Agricultural Productivity
Bicholim, Goa – Water Resources Minister, Shri. Subhash Shirodkar, inaugurated the Lift Irrigation Scheme on Piligao – Narva distributory of LBMC of T.I.P. in the presence of Mayem MLA, Shri. Premendra Vishnu Shet, and Chief Engineer of WRD, Shri. Dnyaneshwar Salelkar. The scheme aims to provide irrigation facilities to villages Narva and Mayem in Bicholim Taluka.


This project is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen water resources and ensure sustainable agricultural practices in Goa. According to Shri. Shirodkar, the government is committed to addressing water requirements for drinking and irrigation purposes till 2047 ¹.
The Lift Irrigation Scheme is expected to benefit local farmers, enhancing agricultural productivity and supporting the region’s economy. The WRD has been working on various projects to improve water supply and prevent flooding in the area, including the construction of a barrage across the Chapora river at Sal in Bicholim ² ³.
