Mapusa: A massive wildfire swept through the Binani area of Colvale late Friday evening leaving a trail of charred remains and smoke-filled skies. The Mapusa Fire Station sprang into action at 18:08 hrs, dispatching a team to contain the blaze.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as “chaotic” as flames engulfed the dry grass, threatening nearby structures. “It happened so fast, one moment everything was calm, the next, flames were everywhere,” said a local resident.
The firefighters’ swift response prevented further damage, with the fire brought under control shortly after arrival. No casualties have been reported, but the incident has raised concerns about fire safety in the area.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, with authorities launching an investigation.
