“Unity Mall U-Turn: CM’s Silence Pushes Chimbel Protesters to Seek Governor’s Aid”
PANJIM: After repeated appeals to the Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant to give them in writing that the Unity Mall will be shifted and hence forth such projects will not be brought to Chimbel near the lake. but when the protestors discovered that the chief minister was mum and sitting over the issue silently without any movement, They have decided to knock now the doors of the Governor of Goa, and seek his advice in this regard. Tomorrow, they will place their ultimate demands before him to shift the entire project to some other place immediately and issue notification so that they can call off their stir..
They alleged that the notification was issued by the Goa Tourism Director , Mr Kedar Naik to shift the Unity Mall was only a “faulty piece of paper.’ while Govind Shirodkar the leader of the agitators felt suspicious about the move and hence the chief minister should formally issue the notification to shift the entire project from Chimbel area.
It may be recalled that the villagers from Chimbel were on strike now since a couple of weeks ago but refused to withdraw the agitation despite government assurances that the Unity Mall will be shifted to some other constituency but they felt cheated due to past experience and demanded a written notification from the government in this regard and only then they will call off the stir.
