Calangute, Goa – A section of Calangute beach near Tito’s Lane has been turned into an unauthorized garbage dump, with sand dunes cleared and critical flora destroyed. The Calangute panchayat bio-diversity management committee chairperson, Benedict Lobo, has alerted authorities, citing violations of environmental protection norms and waste management laws.
The dumping has caused ecological damage, habitat destruction, and health risks to residents and tourists. Lobo has urged immediate action to clear the waste, restore the site, and penalize those responsible
