Villagers Slam Candolim Village Panchyaat Over ODP Construction Concerns at gram sabha
Candolim: Residents of Candolim are up in arms against the village panchayat (VP) for allegedly failing to act against builders continuing construction under the scrapped Outline Development Plan (ODP). Despite the Bombay High Court scrapping the ODP, projects approved under it are still underway, sparking outrage among locals.
Villagers claim they’ve provided lists of violating projects, but no action has been taken. VP secretary Surya Gawas states it’s up to the Town and Country Planning (TCP) department to intervene. Builders have given affidavits to continue work, citing compliance with RP2021 plans.
Concerns were also raised about CRZ no-development zone violations, sand dune destruction at Dando and Vaddy, and the proposed sewage treatment plant (STP) near Nerul river, threatening fishing activities. Residents demand the VP revoke licenses and take action.
