“Goa’s Ancient Treasures Get a New Lease: CM Dr. Pramod Sawant Launches Mission to Safeguard Manuscript Heritage
Panjim: Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired the First Governing Council Meeting of the Goa State Mission for Manuscripts, established in fulfilment of the Budgetary Assurance to safeguard and preserve Goa’s rich manuscript heritage, in the presence of the Secretary, Director, and Members of the Governing Council.
Deliberated on key initiatives, including undertaking a State-wide survey of manuscripts, on-boarding private repositories for conservation and preservation, serving as the nodal agency for implementation of the Gyan Bharatam Mission of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, establishing a centralized manuscripts repository, creating a comprehensive State Manuscripts Database, and initiating capacity-building programmes for learning ancient scripts and promoting awareness of Goa’s manuscript heritage and Indic knowledge systems.
