CM Sawant Holds Crucial Talks with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh
In a significant development for Goa’s aviation sector, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi to discuss the future of civil aviation operations at Dabolim International Airport. The meeting, attended by Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, and MLA Nilesh Cabral, aimed to address concerns surrounding the airport’s operations amidst the rise of Mopa Airport.

According to sources, the meeting focused on ensuring Dabolim’s continued relevance as a key aviation hub, with assurances from Rajnath Singh that civilian operations will remain unaffected. This comes as a relief to South Goa’s tourism industry, which heavily relies on the airport ¹ ².
The state government has been actively working to promote Dabolim Airport, including introducing a ₹2-crore airline incentive scheme to boost air connectivity. With the cruise terminal at Mormugao expected to enhance passenger traffic, CM Sawant emphasized the importance of Dabolim’s strategic location for tourists and locals alike ³ ⁴.
