“Bodgini Fields Clean-Up Row: North Goa district Congress Sounds Alarm Over Student Exploitation ”
Mapusa, Goa – As the Bodgeshwar Jatra festivities conclude, concerns are rising over potential misuse of students from local schools for cleaning up garbage and plastic waste in Bodgini fields under the guise of “social service”. Criticizing the move, north Goa district congress president slammed the practice as a “violation of children’s rights” and “free child labour”.
“Students aren’t labourers. Their hygiene and safety are at risk,” said north Goa district congress president Vijai Bhike in his social media post urging parents and school PTAs to oppose such moves. Instead, he demanded Mapusa Municipality utilise its ₹20 lakh garbage tax collection to hire workers and clean the fields with temple committee help.
