Khorjuvem: A sudden blaze engulfed dry grass near Bao Supermarket, just before the Khorjuvem Cable Bridge, sending alarm bells ringing at 13:24 HRS. Fire services, led by Mapusa’s Shri V B Gawas Lff, sprang into action, swiftly extinguishing the flames and preventing the fire from spreading.

The prompt response by the fire department ensured minimal damage to surrounding areas, and no casualties were reported. “We received the call at 13:24 HRS and were on the scene immediately. Our team worked quickly to contain the fire,” said V B Gawas Lff.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but locals speculate it could be due to discarded cigarettes. The swift action of the fire services averted a potential disaster, bringing relief to residents and shopkeepers in the area.
