“Porvorim’s Gharan Restaurant Gutted in Early Morning Blaze, Fire Brigade Responds Swiftly”
Porvorim -A massive fire broke out at Gharan Restaurant on Porvorim highway, gutting the establishment and causing damage worth Rs. 40-45 lakhs. The prompt response from the Porvorim and Panaji fire brigades, led by chief Damodar Pednekar, saved property worth Rs. 30 lakhs and prevented further damage. The incident occurred at 4:35 AM on Tuesday, with no casualties reported.

According to information provided by Porvorim Fire Brigade chief Damodar Pednekar, on Tuesday (June 6) at 4:35 AM, a message was received about a fire at the “Gharan” restaurant on the Porvorim highway. Under the guidance of fire chief Pednekar, the fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot. The fire caused damage of approximately Rs. 40 to 45 lakhs to the restaurant, including the entire restaurant building, electrical equipment, counter, tables, chairs, and other valuable items. The fire brigade managed to save property worth approximately Rs. 30 lakhs. The Panaji and Porvorim fire brigades were called to the scene. Fortunately, since the restaurant was closed and there were no workers inside, there was no loss of life.
