Sherwin Shaw Falcons, Baale Tigers Register Winning Starts

Panaji: Sherwin Shaw Falcons and Baale Tigers made impressive winning starts in the Panjim Gymkhana-organised PGML 5.0 T-20 cricket tournament, with both teams securing 23-run victories in their respective matches played on Sunday at the Panjim Gymkhana ground, Campal, Panaji.
In the first match of the day, Sherwin Shaw Falcons posted a formidable total of 211 runs, being bowled out in 19.5 overs. Tunish Sawkar led the batting charge with a scintillating 55, while Saif Ali Karajgi (36), Raunak Pednekar (35), and Madar Basappa provided valuable support. For Desserts & More Avengers, Muktiar Kadri was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Mohan Kolkar, Ojas, Mrunmay Das, and Vikas Shetty picked up a wicket each.

Chasing the stiff target, Desserts & More Avengers fought hard to finish at 188 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Ojas top-scored with a fighting 54, with Amod Borkar (40) and Muktiar Kadri (35) also contributing with the bat. However, Sherwin Shaw Falcons’ bowlers held their nerve, with Sandesh Barekar claiming three wickets, while Tunish Sawkar and Sazu Naik chipped in with crucial breakthroughs to seal a 23-run victory.

In the second match, Baale Tigers were bowled out for 173 in 20 overs. Dhiraj Fadte anchored the innings with a solid 51, supported by Samar Dubhashi (36) and Prasad Patil (22). For RC Goa, Ramnath Gaonkar delivered an impressive bowling performance, picking up four wickets.

RC Goa, in reply, were dismissed for 150 in 19.4 overs while chasing the target. Ramnath Gaonkar once again stood out with the bat, scoring 46, while Dattesh Priolkar added 33 runs. Bale Tigers’ left-arm spinner Prasad Patil proved decisive with four wickets, while Dhiraj Phadte and Harshal Shah also struck at crucial moments to help their team register a 23-run win and open their campaign on a winning note.
