Mapusa,: A sudden fire broke out in a patch of dry grass near Our Lady of Victory Church on Pirna Nadora Road at 20:17 hrs, sending tongues of flames licking the night sky. The swift response of the Mapusa fire services, led by Shri Suraj Shetgaonkar, averted a potential disaster, as firefighters sprang into action to contain the blaze.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as “chaotic” as the fire crackled and spat, casting a golden glow over the surrounding area. The proximity of the church and nearby residential areas added an element of urgency to the situation, with locals scrambling to evacuate and make way for the fire crew.
