“Arpora Fire Fallout: Goa CM Pramod Sawant Warns of Strict Action Against Errant Tourism Operators”
PANAJI: In a strongly worded message to all the tourism stake-holder, the chief minister, Dr Pramod Sawant said the government will seal any tourism business operations being run without a fire NOC from the fire department.
On Wednesday the chief minister and the Tourism minister, Mr Rohan Khaunte held a high level meeting with the top district officials, police officers and tourism stake-holder following the Arpora night club styled as Birch by Romeo Lane fire tragedy.
He further informed that the Joint Enforcement and monitoring committee has already started on-site inspection and immediate action will follow wherever violations are found.
The only Arpora Nagoa village panchayat Secretary, Mr Raghuvir Bagkar not yet responded to summons for recording his statement while others came to the police station and gave their statements.
He said till date six persons have been arrested in this regard adding all the persons linked to the Arpora Club fire tragedy will face the action.

While the Tourism minister, Mr Rohan Khaunte has urged that Goa should not be projected in a negative light following the recent Birch by Romeo Lane fire tragedy.
He said while describing the fire incident the tourism sector has earned decades of trust and continues to stand on its reputation of being safe, welcoming, and open to the visitors. He said there will be no compromise on safety standards and that the government is committed to restoring confidence amongst the travellers.
