Mapusa: A raging inferno swept through the tranquil landscape of Parra’s Aluamar field on Wednesday evening, sending plumes of smoke billowing into the sky as fire fighters from Mapusa rushed to contain the blaze.
The fire, which broke out at 15:07 hrs, was quickly brought under control by a team led by Shri Vishnu Gawas, thanks to swift action and expert firefighting skills.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with flames dancing across the dry grass and locals scrambling to evacuate the area. ”
It happened so fast, one moment the field was calm, the next it was a sea of fire,” said a resident.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but authorities suspect a discarded cigarette or stray spark may have ignited the dry grass.
The timely intervention of the Mapusa fire brigade, coupled with the efforts of local residents, prevented the fire from spreading to nearby areas, averting a potential disaster.
Shri Vishnu Gawas, leading the firefighting team, praised the coordination between his team and the public.
