The Heritage First Festival returns for its second edition with 41 walks and workshops scheduled to be held across the state over 3 weeks. Organised by non-profit organisation Heritage First Goa (HFG) the events will be held from November 15 to December 7, 2025 to help preserve and popularise Goa’s distinctive heritage.December 2
Village Saunter – Saligão
Dive deep into stories of migration that have contributed to the unique and harmonious social fabric of Saligao with geologist, artist, heritage storyteller, Rachana Pednekar. Explore the scenic landscape, interact with locals to soak in the distinct spirit of Saligao’s village life and visit the breathtaking Mae De Deus Church, a rare specimen of Neo-Gothic architecture in Goa and end the walk with high tea

Khazan Walk – Salvador Do Mundo
Explore Goa’s ancient khazans, a unique blend of agriculture and fishing that supports diverse human, plant and animal life, with ecologist and river enthusiast Rhea Lopez. Walk through this coastal wetland and see what makes Goa’s unique khazan system thrive and learn about the rich history of this landscape, from its role in producing Goa’s beloved fish-curry-rice to its balanced relationship with nature.

River Island Walk – Divar
Walk through the quiet village of Naroa in Divar, where faith, grandeur
and turmoil have long been woven into the land with music therapist and conservationist Russell Cardozo. Walk to the point where the Mandovi meets four islands, cross a fish farm alive with thieving birds, pass by an ancient cave system, visit the Kadamba temple ruins and end at the island’s beloved gaddo (food stall).

Shore Walk – Caranzalem
Walk along Caranzalem’s lively shores where tradition meets the sea. Watch as the local fishermen bring in their catch from fish and crabs to shells, sea snakes, and starfish. As the shoreline transforms into a living classroom on coastal ecology, discover Goa’s age-old fishing traditions and the remarkable biodiversity in this marine nature journaling walk with freelance illustrator, caricaturist and visual storyteller, Vaibhav Salgaonkar.
