The Electricity Department has launched a statewide crackdown on illegal cables snaking through Goa’s power poles, following a harrowing accident in St Cruz. The move comes after a fibre cable entangled with a bike, leaving a father-son duo injured – the boy with a fractured leg and his father with a broken arm. “The gloves are off,” says EE Kashinath Shetye, vowing to remove all unauthorised cables. The department claims it hasn’t received payment from service providers and will continue the drive across Goa.
