“Khaunte’s Inclusive Vision Takes Root: Differently-Abled Kids Get a Playground of Possibilities”
PORVORIM: The Tourism Minister, Mr Rohan Khaunte, speaking after inaugurating the Divyaranjan Park meant for children with disability at Porvorim in Pundalik Nagar on Thursday stated that “ This is a proud moment for the whole state of Goa simply because when this idea came to my mind I put forth before the chief minister, he replied “best idea” for children with disabilities.
Addressing the children hailing from Sanjay school, Triumph H School and others, Mr Khaunte said when other children are enjoying the facilities of the children park and playing equipment in the same fashion children with disability should also get the same treatment.
“We converted the idea into a reality,” he added
He revealed that the former Defence Minister, Late Manohar Parrikar started the school for the disabled and the chief minister, Dr Pramod Sawant carried forward the mission but only Mr Guru Pawaskar who is serving continuously attached to it either as chairman or the Commission of Disabilities.
“We, Sarpanch of Penha de France, ZP member, local panch member Mr Siddesh Naik and thought of constructing a park in Pundalik Nagar and thought of bringing Science Park but Sanjay School is very close and senior citizens are also there in a sizable number besides a good number of children.” he added.
He further stated that we made futsal provision for children, exercise equipment for the senior citizens and provision for children with disabilities when there is already a children park existing for other children in Porvorim area
While recalling the childhood days Mr Khaunte said nobody can ever deny the fight over the swing during childhood days.
Sanjay school can make minimum use of the park. We brought in Penha de France some special areas for the people in the form of Art Park, amusement Park near Water Treatment Plant, Science Park, Nana Nani Park, on service road we made equipment provision for senior citizens, yoga, besides showing 12 different poses of stone men for Surya Namaskar are also ready for all residents of Porvorim.
While thanking the Chief minister as he has put forth the thoughts of Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi about sab ka saath, sab ka vikas, sab ka vishwas and sab ka prayas and added that we need to carry forward these ideas.
He recalled that Porvorim between 2012 and 2017, was a haunted place and there was no panchayat and we were in opposition. There was absolutely nothing. There were no parks and the residents were agitated as their wards have no place for recreation but we made efforts to bring some facilities here.
