Nikhil Khalap vows to tackle Bardez Bazaar challenges head on, says mall will be ready in three years
MAPUSA: Newly elected chairman of the Bardez Bazaar Consumers Cooperative Society Ltd, Nikhilchandra Khalap, on Thursday took charge of the society and promised to help rid the organisation of its ills and take forward the long-pending projects, including its ambitious mall project, which he said will be inaugurated within three years.

“We have some plans for tackling the upcoming challenges — the mall project, other product categories, other branches, new leadership. My team is with me and we have vowed to do what it takes to take Bardez Bazaar forward,” Khalap said.
Khalap thanked the shareholders of Bardez Bazaar for handing him and his panel the responsibility of taking the cooperative society forward.
“My heart is filled with gratitude — I thank our shareholders who elected us. You have given us a big responsibility to take this society forward; we will not leave any stone unturned to fulfil your expectations. We will give 100% and take the organisation forward.
“Our staff, our stakeholders, Registrar Rameshwar, Thakur, Parwar who conducted the election in a proper manner — the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Cooperation Minister Subhash Shirodkar, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza, and Dr. Chandrakant Shetye — I thank them all for cooperating with us during the elections,” he added.
As regards the mall project, Khalap said that the society has already secured a licence from the NGPDA, which will now be placed before the new committee that has set itself a target of inaugurating the mall within three years.
Khalap also said that he will work on the formula that “a leader creates more leaders.”
“We want to include people under 30 in this endeavour who can take it forward for the next 30 years,” he added.
