GFA Third Division League: Goa United Advances to the next round with Thrilling Win over FC Siolim
Calangute: In a pulsating semi final clash of the GFA Third Division League 2025-2026 Bardez Zone, Goa United emerged victorious against FC Siolim, winning 5-4 in a penalty shootout after the game ended 1-1 in regular time.
The match, played at Poriat Ground calangute , saw Fc Siolim dominate possession in the first half. Pushparaj Mandrekar’s precise shot into the bottom corner, gave Fc Siolim a crucial lead in the 33rd minute. It seemed like a perfectly weighted pass from a teammate allowing Mandrekar to beat the offside trap and slot the ball past Goa United goalkeeper.
However, Goa united came out all guns blazing in the second half, determined to level the score. Their efforts paid off when Runal Shirodkar scored a brilliant equalizer, a powerful header from a well-delivered cross that left the Siolim goalkeeper with no chance. The crowd erupted as the score was levelled at 1-1, sending the match into a nail-biting penalty shootout.
In the end, Goa United’s composure in the penalty shootout proved to be the difference, winning 5-4 and advancing to the final.
