MOG Sunday: The Astounding Success of Sholay
Pilerne, October 2025: The Museum of Goa (MOG), Pilerne, will host The Astounding Success of Sholay: Examining Its Popular Appeal Through the Lens of the Rasa Theory, a talk by Anjum Rajabali, on Sunday, October 19.
As part of the MOG Sunday series, the session revisits the timeless phenomenon of Sholay, which marked 50 years since its release this August. Rajabali explores the film’s enduring success through the ancient Rasa theory from Bharata’s Natyashastra and proposes that Sholay’s lasting charm may lie in its rare embodiment of all nine rasas, emotions that deeply engage audiences across generations.
Anjum Rajabali is a veteran Indian screenwriter known for acclaimed films such as Drohkaal, Ghulam, The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Raajneeti is also an advocate for the rights of Indian screenwriters and a senior member of the Screenwriters Association, India.
