Free Harvester machine in Oxel-Siollim to Ease Farmer’s Burden
Siolim — In a major relief for the farming community of Siolim, MLA Smt. Delilah Lobo on Thursday inaugurated a Free Harvesting Machine facility near the Lions Club, Oxel. The machine was launched in the presence of Sarpanch Reshal Arporkar, Panchayat Members, local farmers and residets. The initiative aims to provide direct, practical support to farmers during the harvest season — cutting down both manual labour and the rising cost of harvesting. For small and marginal farmers in Oxel and surrounding villages, who often struggle with labour shortage and high machinery rental, the free service comes as a timely intervention.

Addressing farmers on the occasion, MLA Delilah Lobo said that farmers are the backbone of Goan villages and sustaining Goa’s agricultural tradition requires more than just words — it needs on-ground support.
“Our aim is to reduce the financial burden on our farmers and ensure no paddy field is left uncultivated due to lack of resources. This free harvesting machine will make harvesting faster, easier and economical,” she said.
Sarpanch Reshal Arporkar lauded the initiative, stating that the panchayat will ensure the facility reaches every needy farmer in the village.Local farmers present welcomed the move, saying the free machine will help them complete harvesting on time, especially at a time when agricultural labour is scarce and expensive. The inauguration marks another step towards strengthening rural agrarian infrastructure in Siolim constituency.
