Swayampurna Goa Push: Six-Day Aari Workshop Begins in Veling-Priol-Cuncoliem
VELING-PRIOL: Under the ambitious Swayampurna Goa initiative, a six-day Aari Workshop was inaugurated at Veling-Priol-Cuncoliem Village Panchayat on Monday.
The workshop, organised by the Village Panchayat and Swayampurna Mitra in collaboration with the Directorate of Art & Culture, will be held from October 6 to October 11, 2026.The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Sarpanch Harsha Gaude, Swayampurna Mitra Dr. Gaurav Gopal Naik, Art & Culture Officer Chetan Khedekar, resource person Maithili Shirodkar and other dignitaries.


The workshop aims to impart hands-on training in traditional Aari work, a form of intricate hand embroidery, to local women and youth, thereby opening avenues for self-employment and sustainable livelihood.
Officials said such skill-based initiatives under Swayampurna Goa are empowering rural talent, preserving traditional crafts and fostering economic self-reliance at the village level. A large number of participants have enrolled for the training, which will include practical sessions and guidance on market linkages.
