“One Drop of Humanity”: Goa Marks National Voluntary Blood Donation Day at Porvorim

Porvorim: Secretary (Health)  Yetindra Maralkar, IAS, lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the celebration of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day at the Secretariat, Porvorim on Wednesday.  The programme, themed “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives”, was organized by the Goa State Blood Transfusion Council and Goa State AIDS Control Society (GSACS)

.Addressing the gathering, Secretary (Health)  Maralkar emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation and lauded the role of donors, NGOs and health workers in ensuring a safe and sufficient blood supply in the state.

He appealed to youth and citizens to come forward and donate blood regularly.Joint Director (IEC), GSACS, Shri. Umakant Sawant, CMO Child and Family Welfare, Dr. Sunita Arlekar, Project Director, GSACS, Dr. Jasmine B. Pinto, Chairman of Red Cross Society, Goa, Shri. Gaurish Dhond, AD (VBD/BTS), GSACS, Vijay Jagtap and others were present on the occasion.The event also included felicitation of regular blood donors and awareness activities to promote voluntary blood donation across the state. On the occasion, officials highlighted that voluntary donation remains the safest source of blood and urged citizens to dispel myths surrounding blood donation.
