Sawant slams Congress, says polls cannot be won by targeting constitutional bodies
PANAJI: (Sep 28) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday hit out at the Congress for targeting the Election Commission, saying political parties cannot win elections by repeatedly levelling accusations against constitutional institutions and demanding proof of electoral procedures.
Addressing a press conference in Panaji, Sawant alleged that the Congress questions the credibility of EVMs only when it loses elections but accepts the same system after winning in states like Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh.
He also cited Goa’s zilla panchayat elections, which are conducted using ballot papers, to argue that the party’s electoral setbacks cannot be attributed solely to EVMs.
