Calangute Panchayat Holds Bal Gram Sabha
Calangute: The Calangute Village Panchayat held its third Bal Gram Sabha, with around 30–40 students participating and raising issues concerning their schools and locality.
The students highlighted the lack of proper drinking water filters in schools, along with concerns over roads, footpaths and sports facilities. Responding to the water issue, Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira said the Panchayat will provide Eureka Forbes water filters to all schools in Calangute. Students were also briefed about the facilities and courses available at ITI Mapusa, while a member of the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights explained students’ rights and protections.
Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira termed the Bal Gram Sabha fruitful, saying the Panchayat provided students an opportunity to participate, raise concerns and have their voices heard in the local governance process.
