Kushavati Collector Chairs Meet to Review Preparedness for Mega Disaster Mock Drill at 4 Locations
Kushavati: The Collector and Chairperson, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kushavati District, Shri. Gurudas S. T. Desai, chaired a meeting with the NDRF officer and officers and representatives from various stakeholder departments and agencies to review preparedness and coordination for the upcoming mock disaster management exercise.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Police, Ports, Fisheries, Public Works Department (PWD), Civil Defence, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Mamlatdars, Chief Officers, Medical Officers and other concerned departments.
The mock exercise will be conducted at four locations across Kushavati District:
– Palolem Beach, Canacona.
– Road leading to Government Higher Secondary School, Khairekhatem, Sanguem.
– Dhavkon Bridge on the Dudhsagar River, Dharbandora.
– Amey Fuel Station, Quepem.
The exercise aims to strengthen inter-departmental coordination, test emergency response mechanisms and assess the preparedness and response capabilities of various agencies in handling disaster and emergency situations.
During the meeting, emphasis was laid on the timely deployment of emergency services, effective communication, mobilisation of Civil Defence volunteers and contingency planning.
The mock drill will serve as an important capacity building exercise to identify gaps in preparedness, enhance the response capabilities of participating agencies and strengthen coordinated disaster management mechanisms, thereby contributing to greater public safety and effective emergency response across the district.
