GOVERNOR LEADS COASTAL CLEANUP DRIVE AT MIRAMAR BEACH
Panaji, Goa -Hon’ble Governor of Goa, Shri Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, participated in a beach cleanup drive held at Miramar Beach in Panaji on Saturday as part of International Coastal Cleanup Day.The drive was organised by the Indian Coast Guard in association with the Lions Club and NGO Vibrant Goa, with enthusiastic participation from officials, volunteers and citizens.


The Governor joined hands with participants in collecting plastic waste, litter and debris from the shoreline, underlining the importance of protecting Goa’s coastline and marine environment.
DIG, Coast Guard District Commander, Goa, Shri Manoj Bhatia, Director, CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Shri Sunil Kumar Singh, and other dignitaries and representatives of organising bodies also participated in the cleanup drive.Speaking on the occasion, the importance of responsible waste disposal, community participation and sustained efforts to keep beaches clean was highlighted. The initiative reflects the collective commitment towards a cleaner coast, safer seas and environmental sustainability.The International Coastal Cleanup Day campaign aims to raise awareness about marine pollution and encourage citizens to take active part in protecting coastal ecosystems.The drive concluded with a call to citizens to continue supporting cleanliness efforts and keep Goa’s beaches clean and beautiful.
