Sankhali Municipal Council Launches ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign with Pledge for a Cleaner Town

Bicholim: The Sankhali Municipal Council formally inaugurated the nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, marking the beginning of an intensive cleanliness drive across the town. The ceremony was held in the presence of council officials, sanitation workers, and enthusiastic citizens who have come forward to support the mission for a clean and sustainable Sankhali.

Addressing the gathering, officials said the campaign aims to go beyond symbolic cleaning and foster a behavioral change towards cleanliness. The initiative will focus on large-scale waste cleanup drives, elimination of litter in public places, reduction of single-use plastic, and most importantly, encouraging source-level waste segregation in every household.Special emphasis will be laid on honouring and involving sanitation workers – the true champions of cleanliness – and making citizens active stakeholders in the mission. As part of the campaign, the Council will organize ward-wise cleanliness drives, awareness programs in schools, street plays, and door-to-door campaigns on segregation of wet and dry waste. Citizens were appealed to actively participate in the campaign and contribute towards making Sankhali a model town in cleanliness and sustainability.
