*Two Killed, Two Injured in Fatal Accident on Porvorim Elevated Corridor;
PORVORIM: In a fatal road accident at Porvorim on Saturday two persons were killed on the spot while two others escaped the death but were seriously injured on the entry /exit point of the newly inaugurated elavated Porvorim 6-lane fly-over corridor.
Their names were given by the authorities as Sarvesh Vengurlekar, aged 41 2-wheeler rider while another is Amita Salgaonkar, The bodies deferred to the Goa Medical College and hospital for post mortem report.
The seriously injured were the car driver and a minor girl admitted in the hospital for medical treatment.
The MLA from Mapusa, Mr Joshua D’Souza, appealed to fly over users not to under take rash and negligent riding or driving on 6-lane elavated fly over corridor without understanding it’s geometry and safety first.
He also urged the first time riders not to rush but understand and ride or drive slowly first and only then after getting well versed with the road only then ride or drive. “Drive cautiously” he added. He said it is not easy for government to depute trafffic police every where to curb and control the speeding drivers or riders or easy for government to install Artificial Intelligence cameras and start challaning at every traffic violations then the public will start shouting at the government.
The flyover was constructed at a very huge cost to ease the traffic congestion, but it will serve its purpose only if people use it responsibly, and this is for the benefit of the general public,”
