Mapusa Market Gears Up for Chaturthi; Parking for 150 Vehicles Earmarked to Ease Congestion

Mapusa, Aug 11 With Ganesh Chaturthi round the corner, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza on Friday inspected the Mapusa Market to review the festive arrangements and the overall functioning of the market. Mapusa Market, one of Goa’s major shopping hubs, witnesses a heavy rush during the Chaturthi season as people from across the state visit for the weekly Friday market and to purchase Matoli and other festive essentials. In view of the expected rush, parking and traffic management were the key focus of the inspection. Following the review, a dedicated parking space has been identified near the Sub-Registrar Office, Mapusa, with a capacity to accommodate around 150 cars.

“Parking is crucial to keep the market accessible and ensure smooth traffic flow. We have identified a dedicated space near the Sub-Registrar Office which can accommodate around 150 cars,” said MLA Joshua D’Souza. He appealed to visitors to make use of the designated parking facility and avoid roadside parking. The initiative is aimed at keeping the roads clear, easing congestion and ensuring a more convenient shopping experience for traders, residents and visitors during the festive season.

Officials of the Mapusa Municipal Council and market committee were present during the inspection.
