Panaji, August 29, 2026: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Media & Communication Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar has raised serious questions over the handling of the Porvorim firing incident.
“The DGP says details cannot be disclosed as they may compromise the investigation. Then who is leaking CCTV footage and investigation-related information to the media? Who has access to this material, and who authorised its circulation?” Panjikar questioned.
He also demanded to know why the shootout scene was not immediately secured and sealed, despite the Porvorim Police Station being just metres away.
“An ongoing criminal investigation requires secrecy, evidence protection and a strict chain of custody. If sensitive information is coming from police sources, who is responsible for this breach?” he asked.
Panjikar said the Chief Minister’s repeated assurance that “strict action will be taken and nobody will be spared” is no longer sufficient.
“Goans need answers, not another routine assurance. If the investigation has not been compromised, the Government must establish that. If there has been a breach, identify those responsible and take action. The CM and DGP must answer.”
