72-year-old man wanted in 2008 extortion case arrested: Delhi Police
NEW DELHI: (Aug 22) A 72-year-old man wanted in a 2008 extortion case was arrested by Delhi Police’s Special Cell after allegedly evading arrest for nearly 18 years by shifting his base from state to another, officials said on Saturday.
The accused, Hari Singh Shekhawat, was apprehended from a residential society in Jaipur on Thursday following an extensive search that took police across Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat and Rajasthan, they said.
According to police, the case dates back to March 2008 when Shekhawat, then working with a prominent garment multinational, allegedly attempted to extort money from the company.
