Bambolim Water Pumping Station Goes Solar; Shripad Naik Inaugurates 90 kWp Project
Panaji: Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, Shri Shripad Naik, inaugurated a 90 kWp On-Grid Solar Power Plant at the Department of Drinking Water Pumping Station, Bambolim, on Friday
The solar plant is expected to power the pumping station’s operations, drastically reducing electricity bills and promoting the use of clean and sustainable energy for essential public services. The initiative is part of the Union Government’s larger push towards achieving renewable energy targets under the National Solar Mission.

Speaking after the inauguration, the Minister said that Goa has immense potential for solar power generation and the Centre is committed to supporting the state in its transition to green energy. He added that integrating solar power with water supply infrastructure will ensure energy efficiency and long-term sustainability.
St. Cruz MLA Shri Rodolfo Fernandes, former MLA Shri Francisco Silveira, officials from the Electricity Department, Department of Drinking Water and Goa Energy Development Agency were present on the occasion.The dignitaries lauded the project as a model for other government departments to adopt renewable energy solutions.
