*80th Independence Day: CM Honors Freedom Fighters, *
PERNEM:* Goa paid solemn tribute to its freedom fighters as *Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant* unfurled the Tricolour and laid a wreath at the *Martyrs’ Memorial, Patradevi* on the occasion of the *80th Independence Day* on Friday.
The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag to the strains of the National Anthem, followed by a ceremonial guard of honour. The Chief Minister then proceeded to the Martyrs’ Memorial where he placed a floral wreath in remembrance of the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence. A two-minute silence was observed to honor the martyrs.
In his address, Dr. Sawant acknowledged the invaluable contribution of freedom fighters from Goa, Daman and Diu in the liberation struggle. He urged the younger generation to draw inspiration from their courage and commitment to build a self-reliant and developed India under the vision of *Viksit Bharat @2047*.
The event was attended by *Pernem MLA Shri Pravin Arlekar, Mandrem MLA Shri Jit Arolkar, President of Goa Daman and Diu Freedom Fighters Association Shri Rohidas Desai, North Goa Collector Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, local Sarpanch*, and other dignitaries. Members of the Freedom Fighters Association were felicitated on the occasion.
