Tiranga Rally from Parra to Calangute Sees Massive Participation Ahead of Independence Day
Calangute, August 14, 2026 — The spirit of patriotism was on full display as a grand ‘Tiranga Rally’ was held from Parra to Calangute on Thursday, drawing hundreds of locals, students, and officials ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
The rally, organised to promote the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, saw participants carrying the national flag and walking in unison while raising slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”. The tricolour dominated the streets as bikes, vehicles, and pedestrians joined the procession, creating a vibrant sea of saffron, white and green.
The rally commenced from Parra and culminated at Calangute, passing through key areas where residents gathered on both sides of the road to cheer and wave flags. School children dressed in tricolour attire, cultural groups, and local panchayat members were part of the march, spreading the message of unity and national pride.
Calangute MLA who was part of the rally said the objective was to encourage every household to hoist the national flag and to instill a sense of pride and responsibility among citizens ahead of Independence Day.
