Competitive Yogasana Sports Coaching Class Inaugurated at Mayem
MAYEM: A Competitive Yogasana Sports Coaching Class was recently inaugurated at Taleshwar Sabhagraha, Mayem, with the objective of providing structured training in yogasana to children and encouraging them to pursue the discipline at a competitive level.
The initiative has been launched by Gomantak Gausevak Mahasangh in association with Yog Seva Mangal Pratishthan, Bicholim. The coaching programme is open to children aged five years and above and will provide systematic training in competitive yogasana, with emphasis on technique, fitness, discipline and preparation for competitions.
Mayem MLA and Chairman of Goa State Horticultural Corporation Limited Premendra Vishnu Shet was the chief guest at the inaugural programme.
Also present were Mayem Deputy Sarpanch Seema Sanjay Arondekar; Shri Rupesh Narayan Thanekar, Chairman of Shri Vijayanand Gyanprasaraka Sanstha; Shri Vidhyanand Shankar Karbotkar Panch Member, Mayem, Shri.Dayanand Karbotkar BJP North Goa District President, Shri. Bhartesh Ghullannavar Secretary of Yog Seva Mangal Pratisthan (Bicholim), Shri. Kalidas Kavlekar Treasurer Of Yog Seva Mangal Pratisthan (Bicholim) and other dignitaries.
The coaching classes will be conducted by instructor Laxita Kavlekar on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 4 pm to 5.30 pm at Shri Taleshwar Sabhagraha, opposite Shri Taleshwar Temple near Mayem Lake.
The organisers have kept the monthly fee at Rs 500, making the programme accessible to children interested in taking up yogasana. The initiative is also aimed at creating greater awareness about competitive yogasana and providing young practitioners with a platform to develop their skills under regular coaching.
The organisers said that introducing children to yogasana at an early age can help develop physical fitness, concentration and discipline, while structured competitive training can provide them with opportunities to participate in competitions and pursue the sport at higher levels.
The launch of the coaching programme is part of the organisers’ efforts to promote yoga and fitness among youngsters in Mayem and surrounding areas and encourage greater participation in yogasana as a sporting discipline.
