Panaji, August 9 2026: Celebrating thirteen years of cultural and social service, Bilvadal Parivar today marked its 13th Foundation Day at the Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji. The programme highlighted the organisation’s contribution to literature, art, culture and social service while recognising individuals who have made notable contributions to society and traditional knowledge.

Honouring excellence and traditional wisdom, the programme featured the presentation of the prestigious Goa Bhushan Award to renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Premanand Ramani and the felicitation of Vaidya Mitras from across Goa for their contribution to traditional herbal healing practices. The celebration also highlighted Bilvadal Parivar’s initiatives in promoting literature and culture, including literary conferences, elocution competitions, Dashavatari drama competitions, poetry gatherings, Bal Sanskar camps, Kirtan Mahotsavs and other cultural programmes.

Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said, “Bilvadal Parivar has made a significant contribution to Goa’s literary, cultural and social life.” He added, “Indian culture has always viewed health as an integral part of society’s well-being, and Ayurveda and traditional healing practices have an important place in this heritage.” He said, “The Vaidya Mitras being felicitated today have served society without seeking publicity. Recognising their contribution is an important step towards preserving traditional knowledge.” He emphasised the importance of combining modern science with traditional knowledge to build a healthier society.

Recognising outstanding service, CM Dr. Sawant congratulated Dr. Premanand Ramani on receiving the Goa Bhushan Award and said his contribution to the medical field at the national and international level is a matter of pride for Goa. He also encouraged the younger generation to study traditional knowledge scientifically, particularly knowledge of medicinal plants, home remedies and India’s traditional lifestyle, and use it for the benefit of society.
