Shop Fire Averted At Aldona Old Market, Quick Response by Mapusa Fire Team
Mapusa: A shop near Aldona Old Market caught fire in the early hours of Wednesday prompting a swift response from the Fire and Emergency Services,. According to officials, the incident was reported at 08:42 HRS. Fire personnel from Mapusa Fire Station immediately rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
“We received the call at 8:42 AM and our team reached the location within minutes. The fire was contained before it could spread to adjoining shops,” said Shri P.J. Kannaik, Sub Officer, who led the firefighting operation at the site.No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The extent of damage to goods inside the shop is yet to be ascertained
The Aldona Old Market area sees heavy footfall daily, and officials stressed the importance of fire safety measures in commercial zones. “Incidents like this remind us to be vigilant. Shop owners must ensure proper electrical maintenance and keep fire safety equipment handy,” an FES official added.
