Chief Secretary Dr. Candavelou Pays Tribute To Lokmanya Tilak On Punyatithi
Porvorim — Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, paid floral tributes to the portrait of late Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak at the Secretariat here on his Punyatithi.The solemn observance was held in the Secretariat premises, where Dr. Candavelou garlanded the portrait of the great freedom fighter, social reformer and architect of the Swadeshi movement. Senior officials joined the tribute. Secretaries to Government, Additional Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, Under Secretaries and staff of the Secretariat were present and observed a moment of silence to honour Tilak’s immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle.
Speaking on the occasion, officials recalled Lokmanya Tilak’s clarion call in awakening national consciousness. They noted that his ideals of courage, self-reliance and public service continue to inspire governance and public life even today. The tribute served as a reminder to rededicate oneself to the values of patriotism, unity and service to the nation that Tilak embodied.
