Drishti Marine Lifesavers Treat Man Knocked Down by Wave at Colva Beach; Locate and Return Lost iPhone.
Panaji, July 20, 2026 : Drishti Marine lifesavers administered first aid to a Margao resident who was injured after an unruly wave knocked him down, injuring him, at Colva Beach, while also managing to return a lost mobile phone to its rightful owner during the weekend.
Colva beach: A 28-year-old male from Margao sustained an injury to his arm after being knocked off balance by a wave while standing at the waterline at Colva Beach. Drishti Marine lifesavers responded immediately, administered first aid at the scene and ensured he received prompt medical attention by handing him over to the 108 ambulance service. The individual was reported to be in stable condition. At the same beach, during routine beach patrol, Drishti Marine lifesaver Daudsab found an unattended iPhone on the beach. A short while later, the lifesaver received a call on the device from the owner. The owner was directed to the lifeguard tower, where the phone was verified and handed over to its rightful owner in the presence of the Beach Marshal.
Goa is currently experiencing the rigours of the ongoing monsoon, with strong winds, rough seas and turbulent waters making the coastline unsafe for swimming. Swimming remains prohibited along Goa’s beaches during this period, while a seasonal fishing ban is also in force. To ensure public safety, Drishti Marine has deployed more than 450 trained lifesavers and beach marshals across the state’s major beaches, waterfalls and four inland water bodies to respond swiftly to emergencies and assist visitors.
