Congress demands Judicial enquiry by Apex Court in Ram Mandir loot case

Panaji: Former MP & AICC Incharge for Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh, Smt. Rajani Patil, on Sunday stated that people had donated their hard-earned money to the Ram Mandir Temple in Ayodhya and demanded a judicial enquiry monitored by the Supreme Court into the loot case. She held BJP, RSS, and VHP responsible for this loot and sought their response over the issue.

Smt. Patil was speaking during a press conference at Congress House, Panaji. Congress Working President MLA Adv. Carlos Ferreira, Media Chairperson Amarnath Panajikar, and Youth President Archit Naik were present.

Smt. Rajani Patil said that people donated many things to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. “We were all of the opinion that this temple should be built. But today BJP, RSS, and VHP have carried out a systematic loot of this temple. The Ram Mandir Trust was formed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but its own staff are involved in this loot. Big personalities are involved in this organised crime. But the Prime Minister remains silent on this issue,” she said.

“RSS and VHP have tried to save their skin by saying this act is shameful. But they will have to take responsibility and reveal who is behind this loot of crores of rupees. BJP used the Ram Mandir issue for politics. They openly asked for votes on this issue, saying those who brought Ram must be brought back to power. Now they should take responsibility for this,” she said.

“A Supreme Court-monitored judicial enquiry should be conducted into the financial irregularities in donations for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. There should be discussion and debate on this issue in Parliament,” she added.

Smt. Patil said that farmers, poor people, and others donated their hard-earned money to the temple, and hence it is necessary to know who is behind this loot. Trust Chairperson Champat Rai should be arrested and an enquiry should be conducted. “By arresting just the staff of the temple, nothing is going to happen. Champat Rai should be arrested,” she said.

Adv. Carlos Ferreira said that FIRs should be filed in this connection. “They have arrested small people in this. This is a synchronised syndicate to loot. You cannot go scot-free by resigning from the post. There should be a thorough investigation into this loot. We all donated to this temple. We did not donate for it to be looted,” he said.

“After looting our country, they have now entered the temples. They sought votes in the name of Shree Rama. Now they should investigate and find out who is behind this loot. This is not just anti-national, these are criminals,” he said.

Amarnath said that Shree Ram belongs to all faiths. “But BJP is politicising our lords. I condemn the act of looting the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had said that if a dog doesn’t bark at a robber, it means he knows him. His words are coming true. Our Chief Minister is not speaking on this issue. He, along with BJP President Damodar Naik, is silent over this robbery. What kind of Hindutva do they speak about?” Amarnath questioned.

He said that many people donated to build the Ram Mandir, but their donations have been looted. “We are real Hindus. We have high respect for our lords. But it looks like BJP does not,” he said.
