Two Trees Fall on Roads, Wires in North Goa; Fire Service Clears Debris, Restores Traffic

MAPUSA – Two separate incidents of large trees falling on roads and electrical wires were reported late Monday night in Baga and Aldona, prompting a response from Mapusa Fire Station.

The first incident occurred at 10:15 PM near the road leading to Baga Beach. A tree fell across the road and brought down overhead electrical wires, causing obstruction for vehicles. Fire and emergency personnel led by Shri Suraj Shetgaonkar LFF were immediately dispatched to attend to the situation. Less than 30 minutes later, at 10:42 PM, another banyan tree fell near the football ground at Aldona Quitla.The fallen tree again impacted both road traffic and power lines in the area. P Y Shetgaonkar LFF from Mapusa Fire Station attended to the second incident. No injuries were reported in either incident as of last reports. Fire officials worked to clear the debris and coordinate with electricity department staff to restore normalcy. Motorists were advised to exercise caution while traveling through the affected stretches. Tree falls are common during pre-monsoon winds and heavy showers, with authorities urging residents to report such incidents to local fire stations promptly.
