BJP Has Turned Governance into a Yoga Exercise in Balancing Corruption, Debt and Anti-People Policies: Girish Chodankar

Panaji: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar extended greetings to all citizens who sincerely practice yoga as a means of achieving physical fitness, mental well-being and inner discipline. At the same time, he launched a sharp attack on the BJP Government led by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, accusing it of reducing governance to an exercise in political optics while burdening the people of Goa with a series of crises.

Chodankar said that after nearly fourteen years of BJP rule, Goans have become experts in managing stress, anxiety and uncertainty created by the Government’s policies. “Every household in Goa today understands the importance of yoga because people are constantly struggling to maintain balance amid rising prices, unemployment, financial insecurity and anti-people decisions of the BJP Government,” he stated.

He remarked that while yoga is a serious discipline and way of life for millions, for the BJP Government it has become an annual publicity event used to divert attention from its failures.

“Perhaps the greatest yogic achievement of the BJP Government is its extraordinary ability to maintain perfect balance while carrying the burden of corruption scandals, the controversial Section 39-A, the Smart Meter imposition, the jobs-for-cash allegations, the growing drug menace, mounting public debt and the reckless sale of Goa’s resources. Despite all these issues weighing heavily on the people, the Government continues to sit comfortably in denial,” Chodankar said.

The GPCC President alleged that the BJP has mastered the art of balancing political propaganda with administrative failure. “Instead of focusing on employment generation, protecting Goa’s identity, controlling the drug trade, strengthening public services and addressing the concerns of ordinary citizens, the Government spends its energy on event management and image-building exercises,” he added.

Chodankar further stated that no amount of publicity programmes can hide the reality that Goa is witnessing increasing public dissatisfaction over unemployment, corruption and policies that favour vested interests over local residents.

“The people of Goa are no longer interested in symbolic displays. They want accountability, transparency and a Government that works for them every day of the year, not only during photo opportunities. The BJP may celebrate Yoga Day with grand events, but the people are asking serious questions about governance, and those questions cannot be ignored forever,” he said.

Concluding his statement, Girish Chodankar reiterated the Congress Party’s commitment to protecting Goa’s interests and fighting against anti-people policies. He urged the Government to focus less on public relations exercises and more on addressing the real challenges faced by Goans.
