Calangute Panch Member Prasad Shirodkar has expressed serious concern over unusually high electricity bills being received by residents and has demanded immediate intervention from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the Power Minister.
Shirodkar stated that several consumers in Calangute have received electricity bills that are multiple times higher than their regular monthly bills, despite facing frequent power interruptions and an unreliable electricity supply. He questioned how residents could be charged exorbitant amounts when basic power services remain inconsistent.
Demanding an urgent investigation into the billing issue, he urged the authorities to verify meter readings, rectify discrepancies, and provide relief to affected consumers. He also called on the Electricity Department to address ongoing power supply problems in the area and ensure fair billing practices for all consumers.
