Goa Medical College Intern Found Dead at Dona Paula; Police Investigation Underway*
PANAJI: Mystery shrouds the death of a Goa Medical College intern Gauri Narayanan whose body was recovered from Hawaii beach at Dona Paula.
However, the body of the 24-year old Doctor hailing from Kerala was referred to the GMC at Bambolim for a post mortem report after police conducted the panchanama.
The Medical Superintendent of GMC stated the police investigation is on as it has become a medico legal case. Post mortem report will be declared soon as her father is in Goa.
He said yesterday her parents were informed about the incident over the phone. Her father has arrived in the state and her parents are both in the medical profession, adding further investigation is being done by the police investigating officer
He ruled out that she was suffering from any mental ailments and added that the GMC has some senior doctors to do counselling if required and specially to look after inter-state students whether they require any kinds of advice or consultations or help.
.She was about to complete her internship and was about to return to her native place within the next two days.
She was staying at the hostel room meant for senior doctors where all facilities were being extended to them by the hospital authorities.
The Dean of the GMC conducted the meeting with all the senior doctors and discussed how her parents should be offered all facilities who arrived in the state . The hospital authorities said the unfortunate incident happened. Police have recovered a syringe and other materials from the spot of the body. Postmortem will uncover all the ingredients to support the investigation further
